Feb. 16–ENID A former martial arts instructor for an at-risk youth program was arrested Tuesday on child pornography charges.

Michael Anthony Mason was arrested at about 2:15 p.m. by Enid Police Department detectives on complaints of possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.

EPD spokesman Lt. Eric Holtzclaw said the arrest was a result of an online undercover investigation by Detective Tim Doyle. The investigation found Mason was transmitting child pornography over the Internet.

Detectives served a search warrant at Mason’s residence, 514 N. Central, and probable cause for the arrest was found.

Mason is being held in the Garfield County Detention Facility and bond had not been set.

Mason was an instructor for a youth martial arts program in mid-2000. Dustin Musick, who runs Human-itarian School of Martial Arts in Oakwood Mall, said he began the program America’s Kids Against Crime and Mason was an instructor.

“It was a total children’s program. The whole program was,” Musick said. “It was for at-risk youth to train in martial arts for free.”

The now-defunct program ended sometime in 2006, Musick said, and Mason was an instructor there for about three years.

Musick said he had left the program to found another and Mason stayed with America’s Kids Against Crime as an instructor.
